My brain hurts. Big time. And though that may seem like a complaint, it's not. I managed to choose a topic for my research paper that is probably better suited to a dissertation than a measely 12-page paper. Jurgen Moltmann is a German Luthern theologian who basically breaks down all my mental muscles. I'm working my way through what is possibly the most important theological contribution in the last two centuries (or so say the three people on this planet who can comprehend his work) in regard to the question of God's impassibility (The Crucified God). His conclusions are either brilliant or absurd. I can't decide. I guess I'm leaning more on the brilliant end of the spectrum because I don't generally invest this much energy into things I find absurd. But we'll see...
Yesterday I went for a walk, and the sun came out. I looked up and saw a grove of massive trees swaying in the wind with the sunlight peircing through the leaves, and it was really mesmerizing. Gotta love it when ordinary things suddenly transform into something more. My brain stopped hurting momentarily. I pressed pause on the deep theological questions. And something within me started to connect and move with something much grander than anything within me. I like to imagine that in the invisible, spiritual realm I looked like one of those trees swaying in the wind even though I was just walking down the street with a smile on my face. Invisible and intangible realities are often revealed by the things that they move. Kind of like a grove of trees revealing the wind's chaotic rhythm.
If I could translate this scene into something musical, I think it would sound something like this....

(You'll have to just copy and paste because my brain hurts too much to figure out how to put this video on my post. I know. Life is so hard). What's the connection, you ask? Umm, I don't know. Maybe I just want an excuse to share one of my favorite tunes with you.
In short, I'm grateful for sore brain muscles, sunlight, and good music. Now back to work I go.....
