A Pair of Glasses

According to Portlandia's "Dream of the 90's" theme song, all the hot girls in Portland wear glasses.  Last week I watched a girl drink hot cocoa wearing huge, dark-rimmed glasses.  And when I say huge, the rims practically swallowed half her face. The I had to do a double take.  I noticed that the lens were completely missing from her glasses.  Seriously?!  Seriously.

This absurdity baffled me.  Never mind all the tattoos, piercings, protestings, and random clowns floating around Portland. That generally doesn't bother me at all.  The lens-less glasses, however, were indeed ridiculous to me in the most lame kind of way.  I felt a blog post rising within me.  Like most people in Portland, I too found myself highly annoyed over something really stupid.

Then two days later my friend Danielle posted the following photo of me on Facebook.  Thank God I will never be accused of donning lame glasses.  Whew.
